About National Flag Team
Established in May of 2018, University of Macau National Flag Team is the first student national flag honor guard of the higher education institutions in Macau. It aims at enhancing the cohesion of students’ patriotism, love to Macau and the sense of belonging to the university.
The team consists of 49 members, including bachelor and master students from ten residential colleges, covering students from Macao and the Mainland.
After fulfilling and attending two trainings provided by the People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison and regular harsh trainings, it has become well-organized. So far, the team successfully held the First Flag-Raising Ceremony, the Convocation of the 2018/2019 Academic Year Ceremony, the 69th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China Flag-Raising Ceremony, the Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary and Higher Degrees 2018’s Flag-raising Ceremony, Ceremony for Macao SAR Establishment Day. National Flag Team also has a joint training with Tsinghua University student flag team and Beihang University flag team. National Flag Team was invited to watch the flag-raising ceremony of the New Year at Tiananmen Square on January 1, 2019.
Being one of the Cultural and Arts U-teams, National Flag Team is responsible for the missions of raising the National Flag of the People’s Republic of China, Macao Special Administrative Region Regional Flag and UM University Flag in campus, and the flag bearers have casted themselves as one of the most distinctive scenery in UM.
Major missions include:
- To hold flag-raising ceremonies on days with important ceremonies and days of significance.
- To promote and implement the ” Law of the People’s Republic of China on National Flag” and patriotism among students through various forms, such as the organizing flag-raising ceremony;
- To attend the internal activities of the flag guards;
- Accomplish other missions assigned by the University.
