All Registered Students (Undergraduate & Postgraduate):

To be in line with the development of University of Macau (UM), and to enhance students’ health awareness, as well as to provide better medical services and coverage, UM medical insurance is mandatory for all registered students.

For academic year 2023/2024, the insurance scheme period starts from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024 and covers out-patient visits and hospitalization benefits. The insurance premium is MOP120 for academic year 2023/2024.

Exemption:
Students who meet one of the criterions in the UM Student Medical Insurance Fee Waiver Guidelines (S-061/G/SRS, attachment 1) can apply for exemption from UM Student Medical Insurance Scheme for academic year 2023/2024. Upon approval, students are exempted to pay the medical insurance fee for academic year 2023/2024.

Application: 18-31 August 2023 (late application will not be accepted)

Required documents:
1. Declaration of Medical Insurance Exemption (S-086/F/SRS, attachment 2);
2. Proof of exemption criteria, such as:
– Insurance plan with hospitalization coverage in Macao (coverage period: 1 August 2023 – 31 July 2024)
– Acesso a Cuidados de Saúde (衞生護理證)
– Oral defense date confirmation (for postgraduate students)
– Out-going exchange period confirmation

After registration, the insurance premium of MOP120 will be included in the e-debit note.

Notice: UM Medical Insurance Scheme claims are limited, students with extra needs should subscribe additional medical insurance service on their own.

After medical treatment, student should fill in a Claim Form (provided by insurance company) at Student Affairs Office (Student Activity Centre, E31, Room 2007), and submit original official receipt and medical report issued by the assigned hospitals or medical service centers. Applications for claims should be raised within 70 days.

Student Affairs Office will consolidate and send all completed applications to insurance company on every Monday (will be postponed to the following working day if Monday is public holiday).

After the insurance company approves the application of medical reimbursement, the claims will be settled by account payee cheques. Students are required to bank-in the cheques at local banks with currency of “Patacas”.
Note: Should you have any problem regarding the reimbursement procedure, please report to Student Affairs Office immediately.
