We are Public Speaking Team!

Public Speaking Team, which was founded in 2008, aims to provide an excellent chance for its members to learn public speaking skills, improve English language proficiency, develop creative thinking and enhance the confidence of the students in making speech in public.

Proactive attitudes, persistent efforts, sense of responsibility and team-work among all the members are the team spirit that we advocate. We will provide not only professional training, but also chances to discover and apply the knowledge through practicing and communicating under an active atmosphere.

Public Speaking, a lifelong skill for everyone

Public speaking is not only useful on the stage, but also extremely important anytime you need to communicate with people. A good public speaking can motivate people, change the listeners’ emotion, and even influence the audience as a person. Earning the ability to make a good public speaking can be helpful for the whole life.

More than “Speaking”

Besides speaking, members are also encouraged to THINK as thinking helps generating new ideas and opinions. We also encourage students to observe more about local and global issues. Without the understanding of global issues around this changing world and the local issues which everyone should be keenly aware of, speaker will hardly deliver a substantial and sparkling speech which creates echoes from the audience. Therefore, we believe that all the speakers in our team a qualified global citizen.

Coach: Ms. Natacha Ilagan

Natacha, known to PST members as Nash, has been coaching PST since 2018. A longtime public speaking hobbyist, she is a three-time champion of the Macau-wide English Speaking Competition (Upper Primary, Lower Secondary and Open categories) and has coached numerous PST members to become finalists and champions themselves. More importantly, she aims to help students grow into inquisitive, eloquent public speakers.

Outside of PST, Nash has given writing and performing workshops and has occasionally served as a judge for contests as well. Finally, she is a member of the Macau Toastmasters Club and their VP of Public Relations (2022-2023). It is her hope that with her guidance, PST members will become sharper writers and self-assured performers.
